CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Qualification Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Assessment tasks including assignments in addition to workshops will be required to complete this qualification. This course is deemed as full-time study.

Electives have been selected to provide a qualification with a specialisation in Individual Support (Disability) and are relevant to the work outcome and potential role.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) qualification. Participants will also undertake HLTAID011 Provide first aid.

Multiple Delivery Modes
 

This qualification is offered in multiple delivery modes to meet the needs of students and employers:

  • Option 1 – Classroom Based suitable for persons seeking to enter the disability care sector
  • Option 2 – Workplace Based suitable for new or existing employees working in this sector. In this case the program is offered as a traineeship or non-traineeship and is supported by the employer.

Option 1 – Classroom Based
Duration:

37 weeks consisting of:

  • 31 weeks of 1 face to face classroom session each week. Additional study and assignments are to be completed between sessions.
  • Approximately 6 weeks of work placement (120 hours) in a regulated disability care setting

Delivery Mode: Face to face

Training Location: 9 Main Road, Moonah

Entry Requirements:

To be selected for entry into this qualification and delivery mode applicants are required to complete a suitability review, a task participation and medical checklist and a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) evaluation, prior to enrolment. Additionally, applicants must hold a working with Vulnerable People Check prior to the commencement of this program. Applicants must have genuine desire to work in this sector.

Option 2 – Workplace Based
Duration: 20 months (13 training sessions – approximately 1 session every 6 weeks, additional supervised workplace learning and work to be completed between training sessions and on the job)

Delivery Mode: Blended – Face-to Face and On the job

Training Location: Your Workplace

Entry Requirements:

To be selected for entry into CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), applicants are required to complete a suitability review, a task participation and medical checklist and a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) evaluation, prior to enrolment. Applicants must also be currently employed with in the disability care sector and have access to a computer and stable internet connection to complete some assessment activities using an online portal (refer to our Online Service Standards available on our website www.foresitetraining.com.au for a full list of technology requirements.)
